Citizen Avion Watch

Citizen Avion – Quick Look

You might call the Citizen Avion a “pilot’s watch,” although flieger-style is the term most often used to describe this general class of watch design. With style elements influenced by the golden age of flight—particularly WWII and the early transatlantic flights of the 1950s—this vintage-inspired timepiece looks pretty slick in any era. And call it what you will, the Avion is a great watch for all the pilots among us, and for those of us who like to hop in the car and pretend we’re pilots on our way to the office.

It should be said that, with a 45mm stainless steel case, this is a big watch. Luckily its slim 12mm profile keeps it from being too heavy. The black dial, sword-style hands, striking bezel design and rich brown leather strap are all eye-catching (it almost looks like a pocket watch or compass strapped into a case) but there’s more to the Citizen Avion than meets the eye. Perhaps its greatest asset is Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology. The watch is powered by light—any light—so you never need a battery.
